A Live Prop

Our meetings are always full of life. However last Wednesdays meeting was a little bit different, with the addition of Lesley's pet Greyhound 'Tommy'.

Tommy was adopted by Lesley and her partner John 6 months ago from H.A.R.T, a volunteer organisation dedicated to rescuing homeless and abused animals. During Lesley's speech we were shocked to learn that each year, approximately 20,000 Greyhounds are born for no other purpose than to race and win. However of these young and healthy Greyhound pups at least 17,000 are discarded and killed without ever making it to the racing track and only 500 are adopted. With Spring Racing Carnivals hotting up, Lesley's speech was a timely reminder to re-think a visit to the Greyhound's.

We also had a phenomenal speech by Rob, which lead us through his appreciation of Art.

Chris gave us an insight into his world with his Icebreaker speech. Well done Chris, what a fantastic way to start your Toastmasters journey.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting!
