It's TLI Time!

It's time for the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (previously known as Club Officer Training).

There is a strong crowd in the South Perth Community Centre Greater Hall.

So far I have heard about the Positive Promotion of Toastmasters from Public Relations Officer, Ian Pickens, Increasing Your Membership with REMEMBER by Steve Barry & Jeanette Farrar.

Later in the evening, we'll hear from;
- Vicky Post about Distrct 17's newsletter, The Black Swan,
- Hanh Ngo regarding Mentoring,
- Martin Lindsay for navigating the TI Club Central website and
- Robyn Lloyd will tell us about Leadership Development Opportunities.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I'll be delivering a workshop on Social Media that Hits it's Target.

So Long, Farewell...

As St Georges prepares for its traditional End of Year Dinner celebration, I am reminded of the loss of two great club members from our roster this year.

Bill Milburn has been a member of St Georges since 1992.  On passing his 20th year, he announced his "retirement" from Toastmasters.

Bill is an enthusiatic evaluator, a spectacular contestant and was always willing to stick his hand up for any role required (including packing chairs away at CWA house).  My most memorable "Billy Boy Moments" are his Vegemite Jar speech and his haunting contest speech on male youth suicide.

Andrew Bolotin has been a member of St Georges since 2004 and a member of Toastmasters long before that.  Andrew became District 73 Lt Governor Marketing in 1983, Lt Governor Education and Training in 1984, and District Governor in 1985. It was during his term as District Governor that District 73 earned its full District status.

I will always remember Andrew for his speeches on politics and history.  He has an amazing capacity for remembering historical dates and explaining complex social and political issues
in an easy listening style.

Both Andrew & Bill will be remembered by many club members past and present for their enthusiasm, their excellent evaluations and their good and bad jokes.

We will miss them greatly and hope they return to visit us from time to time, even if it's just to tell us a new joke.

Cheers,

Lynette Delane

New Year - New News

With the commencement of a new Toastmasters year, I would like to start the year with a few Thank-Yous for the past year.

Dietmar Mazanetz - Our Immediate Past President.
Dietmar has been a wonderfully enthusiatic President and has done a great job with a relatively new committee.  Thank you for the recongnition you have given our members and for spreading the word of Toastmasters to all.  Good luck with your new role of District 17 Treasurer.

Our Committee
I was extremely lucky to have all of our 2011-2012 committee stay on. I am very pleased to have you all around me and I look forward to a successful year, based on all of our hard work.

Members
Thank you to all of our renewing members.  St georges members tend to have quite heavy work committments, so we always appreciate it when our members decide to commit yet another year to both their and their fellow members communication and leadership development.

Cheers,

Lynette Delane
